QR Code Link to This Post 1971 Maico 501 (#501007) Build Sheet * Frame-off restoration of mechanically sound/running Maico 501 done in collaboration with SoCal Maico. * New VMX fenders, number plate with PPG color-matched 2 stage refinishing of tank and air box * New chrome fork tubes and forks rebuilt. Front hub and fork sliders mirror polished. * Buchanan's built wheelset using Arkont era-correct yellow label polished rims with Dunlop new tires and tubes. * Engine disassembled to clean, vapor hone, and polish  then reassembled using new cover/cylinder/head gaskets and seals. * Original hardware clean/polished.  Factory correct replacements used when needed using stainless steel components. * Bing 54 rebuilt, new Twin Air filter installed with correct factory mounting hardware. * New chain and rear brake backing plate mounted to re-chromed rear sprocket. * New seat pan, seat form, and seat cover. * I have a June 2023 video of the bike running before this resotration began.
