QR Code Link to This Post Troy- this 3-year-old Andalusian/ Costa Rican cross is the smartest horse I ever worked with. I taught him Spanish walk on a lead with a halter when he was a yearling by just playing around with him. I started working with him first on the halter when he was just over a year old. He loves figuring things out and is eager to please. When he turned 2 I started driving him in the round pen using my long reigns on the halter (with no bit). About 8 months ago I started putting my rubber bit in his mouth while driving him in the arena. 2 months ago I put a saddle on him and rode around. (The easiest first ride ever.) I have ridden him maybe 15 times since then. He’s still young so I am taking it easy and I keep working him on long reigns more than under saddle. As of now, he has an amazing Spanish walk and piaffe. He is very flexible and supple. Picks up correct leads every time. Very nice, slow, and smooth gaits. I started teaching him extended trot and he gives me 4-6 good steps each time I ask. From there it will be very easy to build his passage. He is a very special young stud. I would ideally see him go to a working equitation home. I think he’s a future star. I am 6’2 and he is a little too small for me. I really want to see him compete and have a successful career. I will not sell him to someone who wants him for dancing regardless of the offer. Videos upon request
