Wandering around Western scientific centers, scientists did not for a minute forget about their only son, who remained somewhere in the USSR. During the Gorbachev Thaw, and then Yeltsin’s “reign,” they contacted dozens of agencies to find their son. But everything was unsuccessful. And the authorities sent a young child, left in the care of his grandmother, to an orphanage, changing his first and last name. His grandmother, Sofya Yankovskaya, was convicted and sent to prison as a traitor to the Motherland, who allowed scientific luminaries, carriers of secret information, to escape to the West, taking advantage of participation in a scientific conference in another country.      Unsuspecting, Alexey Petrov (that was the name given to the child at the orphanage) graduated from school with flying colors, served in the army, graduated with honors from the Mining Institute and, through patronage, began working in an organization associated with the Russian Gazprom. Nothing foreshadowed problems in the future, only bitterness over the loss of his beloved wife, who died during a terrorist attack in the Alps, darkened his thoughts.      The problems began with a phone call from a representative of some company that allegedly found information about his parents. Having agreed on a meeting, Alexey embarked on the shaky path of searching for his long-lost parents. The trials and adventures that awaited him along this path are impossible to imagine: blackmail, deception, flights from Greece to Africa, bank accounts worth millions of dollars, pirates, scientific discoveries, fake parents, new love...
